Philippe Metoudi, CEO

Philippe was formerly a member of the Executive Board of Clearstream Banking, serving as Chairman of the Market Committee responsible for customer relationships in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. During his tenure with Clearstream, Philippe collaborated with Asian central banks and regulators to improve the efficiency of regional clearing systems. In 1993, he was a member of a planning group, sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, to develop guidelines for clearing and settlement in Asia. Philippe led the marketing efforts for many of Clearstream’s most recognized products and developed its Asian franchise.

In 2011, Philippe received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from Global Custodian magazine in recognition of his contribution to the securities industry. In 2009, he was named “Banker of the Year” by The Asset magazine.

Prior to joining Clearstream Banking, Philippe was with American Express Bank, working in Geneva, New York and Hong Kong. His last position with American Express Bank was Director of the Investment Department.

Igal Raichelgauz, Chairman

Igal is the Co-Founder and CEO of Cortica, the leader of AI technology for autonomous platforms. Before founding Cortica, Igal was the CTO of speech recognition company LCB, and prior to that held several technical positions at Intel. Igal started his career in an elite intelligence unit in the IDF, and following this, was the CEO and co-founder of Figment, the first advanced messaging platform based on SMS. Igal started his Ph.D. research at the Technion in the field of cortical neural networks, but his PhD was never completed; instead, Cortica was founded. Igal has received multiple technical and innovation awards and holds over 50 patents.

Asher Avital, CFO

Asher Avital is the Chief Financial Officer at Cortica Ltd and has over 18 years of financial experience in high-tech companies. Prior to joining Cortica, Asher was the Chief Financial Officer at PrimeSense Inc. where he took a dominant and active role in the M&A transaction with Apple, Inc. Prior to joining PrimeSense, Asher was the Chief Financial Officer at Axerra Networks Inc. where he led the M&A transaction with DragonWave Inc. Prior to joining Axerra Asher worked for 9 years as the Chief Economist at RAD Data Communications, where he also furnished his financial expertise to the start-up companies of the RAD Group, including Ceragon Networks, Radwin, Wisair, Axerra Networks, Sanrad and more. Prior to RAD, Asher worked as an economist in the office of Israel’s Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Asher holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an MBA, specializing in finance and accounting, from Tel Aviv University.

Barak Matzkevich, Head of Operations

Barak is leading the business development of Cortica. He joined the company in August, 2017 to spearhead the introduction of Cortica’s innovative approach to AI in key verticals such as automotive, smart cameras and drones. Over the past 25 years, Barak has been involved in business development & sales management roles in companies ranging from early stage start-ups to multi-billion dollar corporations, primarily to introduce highly innovative automotive & IT technologies to tier-suppliers and OEMs across all regions.

Barak holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A from Tel-Aviv University. He also participated in the Global Consulting Practicum of the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania).

Adeyemi Adegbile, Head of Product Management

Adeyemi Adegbile has over 20 years experience in the delivery of innovative enterprise software within the financial industry as an independent consultant.

He has worked for various clients including European Investment Bank (EIB), Midis Kapiti International, EDF London, Clearstream International Banking and Eurex Clearing delivering solutions in the area of bond redenomination, nostro account, automatic trade capture, regulatory report generation, settlement instruction, asset pricing, collateral management, and dynamic collateral eligibility profiling. He has acquired a wealth of knowledge in the financial industry enabling him to participate in the delivery of the Executive Brief for the on-boarding of ETFs as collateral and the collateral API initiative at Eurex Clearing.

Adeyemi Adegbile has B.Sc in Chemical Engineering and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. He also completed an executive training in collateral management, with the International Capital Market Association ICMA. Adeyemi’s experience has given him a unique understanding in the area of global financial regulation architecture, market structure, central bank policy, collateral, foreign exchange asset pricing and technology applications.

Lionel Friedfeld, Head of Business Strategy

Lionel Friedfeld is an international investment banker (Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Israel) with 20 years of experience in Corporate Finance and Coverage in various industries and especially in Financial Institutions, Technology, Telecom & Aerospace industries. Lionel most recently worked at BNP Paribas Israel as a Banker and Head of Multinationals Coverage (2006-2012), where he was responsible for the origination and execution of transactions in several industries including Technology, Telecom, Electronics, IT Services & Software, Security, Defense & Aerospace, Renewable Energy (Water & Solar) advising Israeli Corporates as well as International subsidiaries of Multinationals from the United States, Europe and Asia . Prior to that, he worked at Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking in various capacities in Equity Corporate Finance (M&A and ECM) and Coverage in the Technology & Defense Group (2001-2006). Lionel was educated at McGill University and holds a MSc. in Financial Engineering from La Sorbonne University in Paris and received his Investment Representative license from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (2002).

Roger Harrold, Head of Business Development

Roger Harrold spent most of his career at Deutsche Bank, primarily in leading development in financial services. Roger spent 30 years with Deutsche Bank; for the last 12 years he was Managing Director and member of the Global Management team for Trust and Securities Services.  Roger was globally responsible for building a broad, successful franchise in Investor Services. Roger was tasked with providing Custody, Accounting Services, Fund Administration, Securities lending and Registrar Services from over 40 direct markets to a broad client base, including the world’s largest Institutional clients. After Deutsche Bank Roger was Managing Director and responsible for Product Management in Asia Pacific for World Wide Securities Services at JP Morgan. Roger has continued to be an active M&A group team member focused on the evaluation of financial services opportunities. His skills are often called on to evaluate financial projections, test business cases & client appetite, engage in revenue and expenses synergy planning and to build practical and viable transaction execution plans. Roger is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a member of the Institute of Financial Services and a member of International Securities Services Association (ISSA).

Arkady Krishtul, Head of System Architecture

Arkady has a B.Sc. in computer science from Technion – Israel Institute Of Technology. He started his career in an elite intelligence unit in the IDF. After his service he worked in a major Israeli technology company serving the banking sector as well as large health organizations. In 2006 he became employee number one at Cortica where his significant contributions helped to drive Cortica’s success. As a technical leader of different projects Arkady has tremendous knowledge and experience in big data systems. 

Thomas Russell, Lead AI Data Scientist

Thomas Russell is a Data Scientist with domain expertise in finance and life science. He obtained his BS in Biochemistry and Computer Science at the University of Florida with highest honors in 2001, and went on to work at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle in a pediatric oncology lab. He then continued his education in Neurobiolgy at UC Berkeley where he obtained a PhD in 2010 for his research in how early parts of visual nervous system processes edges. After trading through the Global Financial Crisis, he became fascinated by capital markets and obtained a Master in Finance from IE Business School in 2013 while doing neural circuits research as a postdoc at the Biosystems department of ETH Zurich. In 2014 he launched a private family trading fund (Hericius LLP, London) where he developed quantitative and algorithmic trading strategies. In 2018 he launched a fintech startup focused on building a liquid market for trading weather risk (IrisVector). After his postdoctoral work was finished, he was recruited as Lead AI Data Scientist at Fintica. Thomas is a member of the Basel-city Economic Development Board’s Fintech Workgroup, and continues to have a passion for markets and neuroscience, particularly in the quantitative realms.
